A nonfiction book designed to highlight influences and contributions the First Nations people of North America have made. The book includes chapters on the First Nations values, foods, transportation, sports and games, clothing, etc. The book uses generalizations to teach about the traditions and ideas of First Nations people in North America. The book also highlights how the First Nations helped the early settlers survive and even how native people served as code talkers during the World Wars. Most of the examples given are set in the United States. The last page includes a glossary and a simple index.

My personal hesitation would be the focus on all of North America and an emphasis on the USA rather than Canadian content.

Primary - with help they can use the text and pictures to gather information.

Intermediate - a source for research
