A beautiful picture book telling the history of the Okanagan Valley, specifically Wildhorse Canyon. The story follows events that happen near a ponderosa pine as a grows. The story of the valley is told through snippets of history from 1780 - 2007. The artwork beautifully illustrates the text and complements the story.

Upper primary – intermediate. As beautiful as the book is, the text will be beyond some primary students. It is certainly not designed as a book for young students to read. For example, one sentence reads, "the Sylix people keep their language alive and celebrate the resurgence of their traditional way of life."

Intermediate – junior. Pages 2- 26 comprise the picture book. After that, to page 41, details are provided on the events mentioned in the beginning story. The information could easily be used for a research project on the Okanagan area. The beginning of the book provides a glossary and pronunciation guide for Sylix words and on page 42 there is a comprehensive index.

Strongly recommended as a must-read for families from the Okanagan area of BC!
