06/04/2019Primary - this book is written as an easy reader with real pictures to accompany the text. An excellent nonfiction resource for primary students. The book describes the many ways the cedar tree was utilized by the coastal First Nations people. You could have the students draw a cedar tree and then list how they used the wood (longhouse, totems, variety of canoes, canoe paddles, masks), bark (hats, clothing, mats), and branches (physical and emotional healing)
