06/11/2019A nonfiction book highlighting the lifestyle of the Iroquois Nations. A great overview in words and pictures to illustrate traditional First Nations living in the area. Looks at housing, clothing, food, and also covers family roles, village, and beliefs. At the end, there is a one-page glossary and a one-page index.
Primary – while the text may be above the reading level for most primary students, the pictures are well done. The text uses simple language that even though they may not be able to read it, most primary students would not find it confusing.
Intermediate – an appropriate resource for intermediate students to use for research.
Curriculum Connections:
Social Studies: values and cultural traditions (1), Family roles/community roles (2), Diversity of Canada's land and people (2), All topics for Grade 3,
Science: interdependence of living things and their environment (4)
